Only India, Netherlands and Ukraine started with five team victories at the 42nd Olympiad. In the women's tournament, Russia and Ukraine did the same, going into the rest day. The Netherlands once won silver at an Olympiad (Haifa 1976), and once bronze (Thessaloniki 1988 — without Jan Timman that was!).
