Mel is a supporting character in The Last of Us Part II and a playable character in the No Return mode. She was a former member of the Fireflies and a member of the Washington Liberation Front. Mel was originally a member of the Fireflies in Salt Lake City, Utah, and trained as a medic under Dr. Jerry Anderson, a brilliant surgeon who was considered by his colleagues to be the only person capable of manufacturing a vaccine against the Cordyceps brain infection.
